Chef Chad Cliffe of Atabi at Thunder Canyon Chef Chad Cliffe

The central coast of California was his home for the past 24 years, but he and his family relocated to beautiful northern Nevada recently. For the past 15 years, he's been in the food service industry.  Starting out in the family restaurant as a bus boy and dishwasher, advancing quickly to cook, he rapidly realized his love for food and decided to move away to attend the California Culinary Academy. Graduating in the top percentile of his class and holding down restaurant and catering jobs in between, he found what he’d been longing for.  

After two and half years and back on the central coast, Chef Chad had become wiser and properly trained.  The Inn at Morro Bay (a premier hotel resort) was his first employer subsequent to school. With the Inn, he traveled to Chicago to compete in the world-renowned culinary competition the Bocuse D`Or. His team placed fifth in the nation. He stayed there for four years and progressed with the help of the five executive chefs, absorbing the knowledge they were willing to share.

Today, after many different chef positions in various areas, cuisines and styles under his culinary belt, we at a∙ta∙bi, are honored to have Chef Chad as our Executive Chef.  With his experience and his talented and professional culinary team, Chef Chad believes that he will be creating some exciting, fun and
outstanding food!.
